Giveaway – Rowan Angora Haze

Rowan released a brand new yarn for this season, Angora Haze. Available in a range of gorgeous shades from palest white, through soft pastels, to rich black – there is sure to be a shade to suit every taste. As you would expect from a premium Angora fibre, the yarn is unbelievably soft and, at a generous 137 m, you can get a good amount of life from a ball.

Here’s a quick overview of the available shades:

To accompany this delightful new yarn is the Angora Haze Collection, full of luxurious knits to make the most of the softness this fibre provides. Here are a few highlights from the collection, but be sure to check out the whole range on Rowan’s website.

If you have any concerns about how Rowan obtain their Angora fibres, there is more information available online about the methods they use which clarifies that all the rabbits are live and cared for during the process.

I was lucky enough to be sent two balls of Angora Haze to review along with the pattern brochure, but unfortunately I am slightly allergic to Angora so I can’t work with it or wear it. This is good luck for my readers though, as I am giving away the whole Angora Haze package to one lucky person! The prize is one copy of the Angora Haze Collection brochure, one ball of Angora Haze in shade Hug 524, one ball of Angora Haze in shade Embrace 526.

To enter, simply comment below with what you love about Angora yarn generally, Angora Haze specifically or the Angora Haze Collection. Entries close at midnight on Sunday 24th November and the winner will be chosen at random from all the comments received on this post up until that point.

Good luck!

I’ve always loved angora as my mum knit me a beautiful beret in a pale pink when I was very young. I also had some beautifully soft angora mitts in an off-white shade and she embroidered a bunny on each hand (as I love bunnies). I like the range of colours in the new collection because they can be both grown-up and child friendly.

I used to have two rabbits and though they weren’t angora, just stroking a skein of the stuff reminds me of them. The collection looks really cozy and luxurious!

I love angora because it makes me feel soft and feminine. I’m not usually very ‘girly’, but when I touch angora I feel like a bunny! (which makes a nice change!)

Watt else do we need in these dark long winter-days then a shawl made in a soft bright yarn.
I have not used the angora yarn yet but I’m convinced its heavenly to knit with!

I wonder is there a better yarn than Rowan yarn’s? Please let me know because I knit a lot and I’m always willing to discover new things about knitting and yarns!!

I think that very much depends on the nature and purpose of the project you are knitting. I recently knitted a doll for a baby where I used a completely synthetic yarn by King Cole. It was the perfect choice as it’s hard-wearing, easy to clean and had all the colours I needed. I have knitted with Debbie Bliss, Jarol, and various other brands in the past too. A good place to start is to look at yarn reviews on Ravelry, they will very quickly give you an idea of how people found yarns were to work with and what projects they were, or weren’t, good to work with.

        Hope that helps a bit!

Thanks for the advice! I’ll start looking for that Ravelry site.
I keep my fingers crossed for your giveaway !

I love how warm angora is! The halo is beautiful and the Rowan colors are outstanding, as always, I think nothing beats a pair of angora fair isle mittens! That is what I would make if I win, and while making them I would be trying to decide which sweater I like best in the collection, so many good ones! Thanks for the chance to win!

I very much enjoy working with Rowan yarns. it would be difficult to choose a favorite! Angora Haze reminds me of puffy clouds on a Spring afternoon, regardless of the color way. The perfect yarn to wrap yourself in when your’re in need of a hug.

I well remember some lovely angora jumpers that I wore throughout the 60’s. The experience of wearing this yarn is like a soft caress. The reviews I’ve read about Angora Haze indicate that it doesn’t shed too much. Knitting is such a pleasure and using beautiful yarn enhances the time spent with your needles. Many thanks for offering your samples.

I have one skein of Angora Haze which really needs at least one more to be made into a smallish gift. Really quite anxious to work with this yarn. My daughter lives in London if I am fortunate enough to win and can bring the yarn to me in December! (This sounds awfully cheeky, doesn’t it?)
